Clean and well located motel. The outside as well as the rooms look recent, clean and well maintained. The staff and owner were very kind and helpful. For this price you will not find a better place to stay in Monterey. Would definitely stay here again!

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel inside and out but most notably for the price point.

I'm travelling California for 2 weeks so have been using quite a few low price hotels. I had stayed at 2 other hotels the previous nights for the same sort of price (£60-70) that were so bad I slept fully clothed.

At Monterey Fireplace the bedding didn't just smell clean, it smelled good. 3 full size proper pillows. Towels were all immaculate and folded in a fancy way, with care (unfortunately I didn't take a photo). I didn't check the fridge or microwave but whole room looked clean. I have to admit, the layout seems a bit odd when you walk in as to the rear right there's a small corridor to "nothing" but, in this area was an ironing board and iron, plus either a bench or hatstand, I can't recall.

I made good use of the built in air con unit to warm up the room.

A short walk from plenty of food and shops, I walked to breakfast at Denny's and picked up some bits from Dollar Tree.

Good accomodation for the relatively low price. Kind receptionist. Clean and renovated rooms. Nice ambiente. Free parking.

But a fireplace was missing ;).

Great value for money. Very clean and well maintained property. The bathroom floor was so clean that I could see my reflection on the floor. Toiletries included body lotion which is going out of fashion in motels. I loved the property for the short stay we had at Monterey.

Super convenient and close to the wharf, beach, aquarium, and other shopping areas. Cute and clean room. My husband and I would definitely consider staying there next time we visit Monterey (it was our first).
